This chipmunk was mysteriously following me for several minutes when I was strolling with some friends somewhere in Bryce Canyon, UT. Even when I took this shot, it didn’t seem afraid nor disturbed in any way.
When leaving Geiranger fjord (Norway) by boat, there are often a few seagulls flying just over the bridge. This one was in stationary flight (relatively to the boat) for a while, and the sunlight was softly filtered through its wings and tail feathers.
This thistle flower was the only touch of color other than green all along this path leading to the sea somewhere in Northern Brittany.
About taking shots of seagulls in flight, St Malo (Brittany) is surely one of the best place for that. Especially from the heights of the old town fortified walls, seagulls are constantly flying by at head level. With a good timing, it is not too hard to get one quite close, with a nice background as a bonus.
Seagulls are basically the most common bird seen pretty much anywhere close to the sea. Western Brittany makes no exception. This one has particularly pure white feathers contrasting nicely with the rocks in the background.
The few sheep living on the heights along the Geiranger fjord in Norway have the chance to enjoy a stunning view all day. I caught those two watching down the cliff just as a boat was entering the fjord. They seemed like being the actual guardians of Geiranger fjord.
Just as I was taking this shot, the seagull in the front turned his head towards me as if it had spotted me from the long distance where I was. Looking back at this picture, I can’t help imagining this seagull thinking “What the hell is this guy looking at?!”
The Norsk Folkemuseum in Oslo has this very particular atmosphere making you feel like you’re transported back in time. The animals living there contribute to that feeling, and this rustic horse under the rain close to the traditionnal viking village is a perfect example.
When trying to photograph small common birds, patience is key as these birds are easily afraid of any movement they can perceive and quickly fly away. The opportunity to take that picture of a proud little sparrow on my fence came only after about 20min of patient stillness.
Seeing this duck staring at the ocean horizon non stop for at least 5min on Malibu Beach (CA) would make many really reconsider the level of self-consciousness animals may have. What in the world could it possibly be thinking of at this moment?…
I have seen this young blackbird grow up around my house for quite a while. It was unfortunately caught by the neighbor’s cat just a few days after I took this shot. But it will forever remain in my portfolio!
Nothing was easier to photograph than this lizard, which remained absolutely still for way enough time for me to take this shot. It is now one of the many memories I have from the time I spent in central Vietnam.
